su 29
Hey guys! I'm attempting to build the free SU 29 over at:
MAME CRAFT - Sukhoi-26/29/31 The instructions are a bit vague and i can't work out which parts are used to build the air scoop underneath the aircraft near the nose cowling. Any help from somebody who's built this model? |

I've never built one, but those are some nice looking birds.

Looks to me like the underchin scoop is actually one part with the underside of the fuselage - you just fold it out and round only the sides of that part. Some of the parts beside it may be internal structure to it, I'm not sure. Just looking at the parts and instructions to try to help you out.

Ok I think I got it. The two blue pieces in the center of the page that form the underside of the nose have the outside of the scoop built in - just fold it into shape. The larger of the two blue pieces in the upper right below the largest cowling piece forms the inside of the scoop (glue inside to make the fourth side of the trapezoid shape the scoop makes). The smaller forms a box that represents the inner scoop as can be seen in this photo:
Be sure to post pics! This is quite the detailed model - I'd love to see it completed. Its too bad he didn't include a cockpit - this level of detail (like individual radiator vents) certainly warrants it.

cmags, thanks for the reply.
Yeah i think that's the solution! I thought that at first as well but i thought that folding the scoop out of the actual piece may cause fitting problems (reducing the radius) but i tried dry fitting it again and it seems to fit fine. Thanks for the help, i'll be sure to post photos of the completed bird! |
