They are little, aren't they? Don, has anyone tried to really super detail one of the Trotskiy models? Or is that just a silly idea? I wouldn't mind a retake on the Stuka. Could be fun?

Yes, they are supposed to be printed out a bit larger than I print them! I use mostly US letter, which shrinks them down a fair bit. Here's the Trotskiy Du Jour, the I-16 Rata. The mods include clear viewscreen, formed wings, pilot's seat, curved cowling and propellers;
Printed out on US letter, this model only reaches about 2 3/4" long. I printed it on 110# paper, but some of it would have been easier to work in a lighter weight, I think. Particularly the curve of the cowling. Chris |

was what I wanted to know. However, as always, have produced a magnificent model! I also think that I can print several sheet A4 paper without touching the Trotskiy's scale. Obviously consuming more paper! Orazio |

Bowl of Airplanes
Wow, Chris! You are really going to town on Trotskiys. I love it!
Orazio: I, too print them out on U.S. letter-sized card as little models. If you use the larger-size paper, you can build them for their intended purpose as gliders. I once built the basic version of the I-16, which I think is visible in the bowl of airplanes on the window sill of my office. Don |

Don, I remember that photo!!!:D Somehow, a bowl full of Trotskiys seems fitting. I'm not sure the mods on the I-16 really show much. They were worth it on the Stuka, though! The addictive thing about the Trotskiys is that you can actually get a model done in short order and they don't take up much shelf space. My Trotskiys are all sitting under and between my 1:33 models.
Hmmm, which one next? Chris PS. Don, is that the IL-10 in green to the left of the I-16 in the bowl? |

I'll have to check when I am in the office later in the week, but I'm pretty sure it's a MiG-3. Orazio -- The lack of propellors on most of the Trotskiy airplanes is one of the little peculiarities -- I think we are meant to think that the engines are running and the props are spinning. It wouldn't be too hard to fabricate little props, but as Chris says, the nice thing is you can finish one in short order and they don't look bad without the props (in my opinion). Don |
