C6N1 Rough Translation
As predicted by Ken Moore and announced by maxcarbon, Trotskiy-san has made another aircraft available. It is the Nakajima C6N1 Saiun [Iridescent Clouds] Type 11 and, as in the case of the Raiden released last month, we get two models, one of the 121st Naval Air Group based on Tinian in May 1944 (tail number 21-101) and one of the 11th Reconnaissance Squadron, 762d Naval Air Group, based at Kanoya in April 1945 (tail number 762-34).
Subject to correction by Yu-sama, Shinji, or one of the others who actually read (rather than decode) Japanese, here are my attempts at translation of the major captions, plus some additional info that may be supplemented by Shrike, Charlie C, Mike Krol, or one of the other Japanese markings mavens: The heading on page 1 reads: “Navy Carrier-borne Reconnaissance Aircraft [Kaigun Kanjō Teisatsuki] Saiun [Irridescent Cloud] 11 Gata [Model 11] (C6N1). The left-hand heading on page 2 reads: 121st Naval Air Group [Dai 121 Kaigun Kokutai], May 1944 [Showa Year 19], Te-ni-an [Tinian]. This is an aircraft found by U.S. forces after the capture of Tinian in the Marianas. The right-hand heading reads: 762nd Naval Air Group [Dai 762 Kaigun Kokutai] 11th Reconnaissance Squadron [Teisatsuki 11 Hikōtai] April 1945 [Showa Year 20] Kanoya Base [Kanoya Kijō]. The 11th Recon Squadron was also known as the Kagayaki Butai [Gleaming, Brilliant, or Shining Unit] and several of the aircraft, including 762-34, carried the famous “Z-flag” [flown by Admiral Togo at the Battle of Tsushima and by Admiral Nagumo when he launched the Pearl Harbor attack] on the side of the fuselage. For anybody who can get hold of Mr. Trotskiy, please tell him his "new" layout is super cool. I love the first page showing the built model, and how it should look like.... From my side, i would like if he can keep on doing that with every model.......... Please.....

Doug,
The link for the download is the picture at the bottom of the page: Trotskiy's Studio You must have the LATEST version of Adobe reader to open the pdf file. Adobe reader must also be updated with the Japanese font. His name (all small letters) is the password. Only one plane at a time (sometimes none) is available. There may be periods as long as 6 months when there is no new plane. There is a babelfish link at the bottom of the page which will translate the page into English. There is a WORK tab at the top of the page which links to a page which shows all of the planes that he designed; I do not believe that all of these planes were released. He intends for all of the planes to be gliders. Perhaps he does not release the planes which do not fly well. I like the trotskiy planes because they are simple enough to be reduced to 1/144 scale for wargames. I have built several of the German fighters in 1/144 scale for a game called, "B17 - Queen of the Skies". My friends have yet to build enough of their plastic models so that we can acturally play the game. Of course, I have a time advantage because I am retired and the majority of them are not. Ken |
