Buying Micromodels

Before buying a micromodel from ebay or online...
Here are some questions to ask. Lately there have been many reprints for sale, since people are selling laser/inkjet reprints of scanned micromodels - (this is a copyright violation, but they still do it.) some of these are starting to show up on ebay and other venues.

Do you guarantee this is not a reprint?

Where and when did you acquire this model?

Is there foxing (worn edges) on any of the cards

Is there Foxing on the wrapper?

Are any parts of the wrapper or cards torn or bent?

Is/are there any stains or discoloration (besides normal aging) on the wrapper or any of the cards?

Are any of the cards cut or missing? - (this is not too much of a crisis, because you can find missing cards for sale or buy two and make up one nice packet and sell the other.)

Is the wrapper intact or has it been slit open? (this really devalues a model.)

Is there any evidence of scotch tape or stickers on the wrapper exterior? (this is the slow equivalent of pouring acid on the packet)

Is the white(unprinted) part of the card, the same color on the front as is on the back? (scanned reprints can look aged [yellowish] on the front but the back will be pristine white.)

Are there liner notes inside the wrapper? (all micromodels have liner notes, most reprints do not)

Certain models had extras, i.e., sail material in the Cutty Sark... - Does this model have all the original content?

If I am not satisfied with the Quality/originality of this model will you take it back and refund my Money?

Word to the wise

For very economical laser prints of Micromodel scans, see my internet shop: www.zeistbouwplaten.nl, > Diversen/Various > Micromodels.
A lot easier than tracing originals...

Sorry for the off--tread excursion!

Cecil - I do now. It was difficult finding an original.

Diderick - thanks for the info but, I am interested in collecting the originals.

Putrid's "partner" - a similar kit - was the Toy Dragon (Dracow).
