New to me: Alan Rose Cable Car
Just found the "Build Your Own Cable Car" by Alan Rose from The World On the Move series at a used book store. Its copyrighted 1982 and looks pretty good, but big. What can any of you long term builders tell me about it, especially any idea what scale? It looks like around 1/12 to me, maybe even a bit bigger. Thanks for any info.

Wayne,
I just checked my copy, and I could not find a scale, all the buildings have a scale. Based on some of the pieces in the kit, I would say the scale is about 1:10 Rick

Thanks Rick, after looking at it a bit more I was leaning to 1/10. When I can find my old Hawk model that's 48th I'll compare scaling on a few parts. The plan is to rescan and convert to 1/25th...someday.

a cable car in the 1;25 scale should be about eight inches (that's about twenty centimeters) or so...

I haven't found any measurements yet for the SF cable cars, but just eyeballing them I'd put them at around 32 ft. I usually drive a 40 ft bus and they're not that long. That would make them a bit over 15 inches in 1:25. Figure most American cars are in the 7-10 inch range in 1:25.
