FSPM Trophies on a Mexico IPMS event
A few months ago, Chris Gutzmer was interesting in sponsor a special trophy in the name of ECardModels and the Fine Scale Paper Modelers to paper modelers on an IPMS contest.
So I talked to him about the coming IPMS contest here in Monterrey, Mexico in 25th of June, by our local club ARME. And he agreed on sponsoring the trophy... well, in fact 3 trophies!! So June 25th came. As it was IPMS contest, and paper is still in diapers in Mexico (as far as participation in the contests), only 3 paper modelers contestants attended. That didn't take out the fun for it. I also put up a workshop for kids. Well... not me, my kids did. They set up a table, printed a bunch of kid's models, and invited kids to build them. Another cool thing was that I had the opportunity to give a talk on paper modeling to the IPMS modelers - history, forums, stores, legal download sites, techniques - . It was very well received. Here are some pics of the event. A BIG appreciation for Chris Gutzmer for the sponsoring!! NOTE: The medieval helmet is the logo of our club, and the big helmet there was the prize to the best model of the show (it was a Shuttle and crawler made from scratch... yes, plastic). Kid's workshop table. Photo from iPad... not so great on resolution. Last edited by milenio3; 07-15-2011 at 03:10 PM. |

Really cool! Always great to see paper models at IPMS contests - definitely shakes bones.
Also, it was really nice of Chris to sponsor a special trophy - a really cool one at that - , very admirable. Now, I have a question - That blade trophy...is interesting... Can that be used for modeling? :D (Is it sharp? :P - Oh wait, maybe it could be used to make the largest paper model ever! xD) No, but in all seriousness, that blade is very interesting. |

Well seeing the number of papermodelers joining here in the last two weeks from Mexico alone, I think some may have seen you and the models at that show or heard of them and there be more than three next year I do well believe

Well done Gerardo! It truly has been a pleasure to watch you develop into the great modeling craftsman that you have become. And on top of that you are a wonderful ambassador for our hobby. I only regret that we did not meet while I still resided in Santa Fe.
