Paper Events or info about known paper displays/exhibits (such as an upcoming Victoria and Albert exhibition coming later this year (?) in London) would be good too.

for anyone selling models - a wider audience.

For anyone building - more people to meet and share building talk with

To maintain a charter, I believe you have to have five members belonging to the national organization. In addition, all officers of the chartered club must be members of the national organization.

For contests: The ONLY contest IPMS mandates membership to compete is in the national convention. Regional conventions and local contest do not require IPMS membership to compete (although it is highly recommended).

Yes Tristate scale modelers (TSSM) still exists and meets the second Tuesday evening of each month at the Hagerstown YMCA. I will pm you a contact for them. I am not sure if they are currently affiliated with IPMS as their membership dropped significantly around 2012 due to previous change of venue.

Sorry to dredge up this old thread but .....

Whatever happened to the IPMS SIG for paper models? It seems to have withered and died? I see nothing mentioned of it in the IPMS journal page listed of SIGs.

Next National Convention is in Madison Wisconsin in July 2024 and they've already put out a call for any interested SIGs to set up displays.

SIG - special interest group. Although I have happy memories of the stick-and-tissue SIG (and some old models and unbuilt kits in the basement). Don

SIG is still in business. Has been since 1951 when the late Glen Sigafoose started to import and process high quality balsawood. He then continued his company by selling high quality flying models accessories and after some years started to make balsa kits after purchasing Berkeley Models from Fox model engine company. A small piece of modelling history. Together with Guillows, both companies are the oldest surviving model aircraft kits manufacturers and both have always been on the same site. Guillows founded 1926 in Wakefield Mass and SIG in Montezuma Iowa, both in the United States of America.
