Official IPMS Paper Chapter discussion
If you are interested in this please let me know. IPMS membership NOT needed (though its preferred) to participate in duscussions but is required for participation in events and other such matters. There will be NO annual fees.
I freely admit I have never belonged to IPMS until 10 minutes ago when I sent them my cash I have no idea how these things really work and I am hoping that some of you DO have experience with chapters and stuff and can step forward to help out in various capacities. The level of interest will help me determine if starting a chapter is worth the time investment. I will also promote this to other sites and lists but I hope that PM.com will be the home base. Thanks Chris

Chris,
You little rebellion starter you! I am/would be interested. I have been a member of IPMS in past years, but not current. Also, I believe in order to form a chapter, a certain number of members must be IPMS members. Or is it just to be a chartered chapter? Perhaps something to engage IPMS on.

Rock away!
I've never belonged to IPMS but have followed the activities of chapters on the web. Are you looking to create a "virtual" chapter within PM.com? Wyvern |

Over the years I've belonged to several IPMS chapters in So. Cal. and the Craig Hewitt chapter here in Phoenix area, even the national organization off and on. Been thinking about rejoining, this would be a good impetus to do so.
Haven't seen Chuck Davenport on here recently; he was heavily involved with IPMS for many years. |

The chapter is Virtual within IPMS - they actually have a region within their structure to allow for it. I will have to drop mr davenport a line! I have his email around here somewhere

I am currently a national IPMS member and am a member of my local IPMS club, Tristate scale modelers in Hagerstown, MD (region 2).
To maintain a charter, I believe you have to have five members belonging to the national organization. In addition, all officers of the chartered club must be members of the national organization. For contests: The ONLY contest IPMS mandates membership to compete is in the national convention. Regional conventions and local contest do not require IPMS membership to compete (although it is highly recommended). Greg IPMS #45865

Noting the international membership of this forum, it'd be good if it would recognise any IPMS membership...my membership of IPMS-affiliated Scale Models Wellington(NZ) but I'll be renewing once I start working again...
