To Do stuff in the SIG

OK - I would like to know if anyone wants to be involved in any specific capacities - these will all likely promote our hobby somehow to the IPMS

I will try to be involved in many of these but will really need people to help head up the initiatives

SIG newsletter - possible name Pulp
SIG website design
SIG reviews
IPMS events announcer (you will watch the IPMS site and let us know when things come up )
SIG events coordinator
SIG Marketer (will find ways to make us more visible)
OTHER???? - what do you think would help the SIG?

I dont expect all these to get filled just kind of a general could use some people kinda help

Since I already do reviews for the IPMS website, I can contribute to the SIG as well.

I could try to be the events announcer as well.

There was a mention in the other thread about a name for the newsletter, I thought "Then Cutting Mat" was pretty good.

Was just thinking, and I don't know where this fits in, but what about group buys.

I'd be glad to head up the newsletter.

I always liked the thought of a newsletter called Tabs

I'll throw into a paper modelling newsletter a free scratchbuilt skyscraper model I'll make at some point although I'm rather slow at getting them designed and made, but freebies would be good. I'll have a word on skyscrapercity scale models message board about more free ones as lots of people generate some great models there.

Send a message via AIM to cMags
Group buys are basically where a bunch of folks from a forum or SIG get together with a vendor and arrange to all purchase a particular item at a quantity discount. It takes some doing but can often drum up business for the vendor and provide savings for a bunch of people who all would like to purchase the same item.

I'm not sure it has an application in our hobby - but it might on some of the more popular/bigger kits - I've normally seen it done on some of my car enthusiast forums where a group buy on a particular aftermarket part is arranged and the vendor of that item agrees that if a certain minimum number of the item is purchased at once, they will offer a discount to all those involved. It is a nice way for vendors to give back to a community that supports them.
