Wayne's Projects part 2

My latest project is close to finished - an Uberlandwagen - the German WW1 cargo carrier based on an A7V chassis. Scale is 1/48.

Due to the complexity of the chassis/running gear, and the fact that it was more visible on the cargo carrier than it was on the A7V tank, this model is pretty much a model of the chassis with a little bit of superstructure on top. Some of the smaller parts like tie-rods, cargo cover hoops and exhaust pipes would look better if made from wire/rod than paper.

I'm still working on the instructions so it will be another week or so before I upload it to LandshipsII.

Next project is a merchant ship - SS Politician. Built in 1923, wrecked in 1941 off Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides. The story of the recovery of several thousand cases of whiskey is immortalized the 1947 book "Whiskey Galore", and the movie of the same name. The model is 1/600 scale, based on drawings in John Bowen's "More Miniature Merchant Ships"

I just uploaded the model.

If I were to do the model again, I would use Brass Rods for the masts - the toothpicks were a tad too thick.

Glad to see this particular merchant ship, Wayne. Hope there will be more.

Makes me want to see Whisky Galore again, and to sip a couple of fingers of Glenlivet.
