The Robber Hotzenplotz

Rauber Hotzenplotz is a main character in a series of children's books by the author Otfried Preussler. Originally he only planned to write one story featuring our unsavory friend here, but he was so popular among children that Herr Preussler was more or less obliged to write a second story about him. And then a third.

Anyhow, the model is an item from JFSchreiber's back catalogue and it stands 35 cm tall.

Another neat model, Philip.

Is Rauber Hotzenplotz any kin to Till Eulenspiegel?

That is pretty interesting. I was totally unfamiliar with the author or the stories. Had you read the stories before you did the build?

There is one absolute must-read of Preussler: Krabat. A fantastic story about a young boy who goes to a big dark mill to learn to become a miller but instead he becomes an apprentice of a magician of the dark arts. The story is how he tries to escape his almost unavoidable fate. It's very dark but still accessible for children. Wonderful wonderful story. even the 2008 film is very well made.

Oh, and Philip, nice build of Hotzenplotz! Never knew there were paper models of the man. In Dutch he was called Rover Hosseklos.

Greetings!

Don: It's tempting to think that there is a connection between the two, but I really couldn't say.

V_K: I didn't know about Preussler or Hotzenplotz either until the build was finished and I thought I'd better bone up on it.

Paper Kosmonaut: Thank you so much for that link. I know someone who is going to get a copy of Krabat for her birthday.

Toodle-oo for now...

Beautiful model!
I find dark novels particularly fascinating.
