Tournoel Castle, Auvergne
Chateau de Tournoel began life in the 11c. as a pad for the Counts of Auvergne. Originally not much more than a square tower built on a rocky outcrop, it was enlarged gradually over the years until some seigneurial types transformed it in the 19c.
The kit was published by Tomis Sarl, France, in 1985. It was the first of a series of models which would later be called "L'Histoire en Mains". For some reason, despite it being an obvious French production, the outer front and back covers of my copy are printed in Dutch. Scratches head. The quoted scale is 1:200 and the base measures 46 x 22 cm. approx. It was a difficult build. Being a die-cut kit it suffered from the usual agrivations of that medium. Parts fit, for example, was far from exemplary. I had to completely unpick the removable part of the round tower and rebuild it in order to get it nearly to fit. But, hey ho, now I'm starting to look at the model as an oberserver, rather than the builder, I'm beginning to to take a shine to it. Take a look: Chateau Auvergne | Chateau de Tournoel | France

Hello folks, it's nice of you to pop round! And thanks for your comments. I've a small stash of these Tomis models, so I may get round building another. One day. Perhaps. And remember: if you cant be good, be careful.
