Thank you all for stopping by, and thank you for your generous comments. It's a bit more crowded in here than usual but that makes it all the cosier.

Michael: The beastie is appoximately 56cm long between the fore and aft propellors. And you're right; it did take a very long time!

Mike: Sure. What size are you?

Philip, I just watched The Fabulous World of Jules Verne on YouTube (brought to my attention by Thumb Dog). Your airship was featured in a short scene.

Terrific model!

Hi All,

And hi, Philip. It’s always nice to see a well-designed paper model built by the hands of a skilled modeler such as yourself. Well done. I agree with your quandary regarding rigging.

Speaking of movies that contain Jules Verne’s aerial wonders, have you seen the 1961 film, Master of the World staring Vincent Price? The Albatros plays a major part in the movie. Unfortunately, when the script calls for long shots, the film’s model appears quite clunky when compared to yours. Even though it’s been years since I’ve seen it, I remember it as a less-than-stellar entry by all concerned. Charles Bronson and Henry Hull do their best to thwart Price’s evil efforts. They probably do…I really can’t remember. At least Mary Webster makes for an attractive ingénue.

Check out IMDB to see more about the film. View the trailer for the film here: Master of the World

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog
