A.E.C 'Monarch' Petrol Tanker (Modelcraft Ltd, 1/76)

Hello, everyone!

Here are some photos of my recently-completed petrol tanker, based on a kit from 1947. Modelcraft Ltd was related to Micromodels. The kit was also available as a plan in the 'Lineside Lorries' series.

I added the following details:

Rearview mirrors (card, plastic rod, self-adhesive aluminium film)
Headlights (2 screw heads)
Sidelights ('spheres' of clear UHU glue on plastic rod, coloured with translucent yellow)
Rear lights (translucent red paint)
Petrol tank filler neck (plastic rod)
Exhaust system (wire and plastic tube)
Petrol hose containers (plastic tube)
Petrol hose valve connectors (sheathed wire)
'Texaco' lettering (rub-down transfers on clear decal film)
Windscreen wiper (plastic rod.... Just the one)

The ladder is paper. A final coat of satin varnish was applied by brush.

The construction log can be found here: A.E.C 'Monarch' Petrol Tanker (Modelcraft Ltd, 1/72): A 1947 Kit - Bauberichte - Kartonbau.de - Alles rund um Papiermodelle, Kartonmodellbau und Bastelbogen

It's amazing what a little love can do for these vintage models.

Nicely done

Beautiful workmanship. I have a few of these kits hanging around but have never attempted one, not realising what could be done with them.

Nice, especially for that small scale.

👍🏻 Makes you think about the skills of the original designers - despite having no computers/software to do layout, the kits go together well 😄✂️
