Pippi Longstocking

Pippi Longstocking is a nine-year-old girl, one that is known in my part of the world as a "tomboy". Her friends are a horse, a monkey and the two children who live next door. Oh, and she posesses superhuman strength. She is the creation of the Swedish children's author Astrid Lingren, and she appears in three books and numerous short stories, as well as in movies, a TV series and comic books.

It's an old JFSchreiber kit from 1973. Well, how could I not enjoy giving shape to this cheeky little minx? Nothing difficult here. She stands about 40 cm. tall, and is currently loitering about in our kitchen hoping to snaffle a biscuit or two when nobody's looking, no doubt. My other half took her to heart straight away, and I don't blame her.

You do have a knack for finding interesting models to build.

Ah, youth sentiment! Reminds me of the carefree days in the early seventies when we were watching "Pippi Langkous", as it's called in Dutch, on TV every Sunday evening. Very nicely crafted Philip, thanks for sharing! Unfortunately, no longer in today's Schreiber catalogue.

Cheers,
Erik

Nicely made Philip.

She looks a little scary - How about a "Trooperess" next time ;-)

Cheers

Impressive.
I, and perhaps others on the west side of the Atlantic, had never heard of Pippi.
Thanks for the introduction.

From Pippi

Pippi writes:

"Thank you all for your kind comments, and I'm glad that I could bring out a smile or two from you. The garden shoot was something I'd never done before so it was another adventure to add to my list. Must go now: I sense an opportunity has arisen for more biscuits. Toodleoo!"
