Bottle Kiln & Workshops

Despite not having much of an interet in ceramics, I thought this pottery complex would be a cute addition to my already more than overflowing shelves. So work began, and eventually, finished.

The kit is in OO, 1/76 scale and was issued by Novus Publishing Limited, Birmingham, England, 1977, under the "W & T" imprint. The caboodle was printed for the most part on thick, laminated, card except for the kiln itself, and didn't present any difficulties beyond the usual. It was primarily designed for model railways, of course, but I'm happy with it as a standalone model.

Come to think about it I don't really have any room for it, but I have a friend with a model railway. Perhaps she would like it. I'll ask.

Really nice. Those would make a great gift.
Looking at them makes me wonder how much a plastic set would cost if purchased from a model railway supplier.

I doubt there is a plastic manufacturer. Specialized topic and it would require some special dies and templates.

You certainly know how to find models with character, Philip. Nicely done

It's good to see this build up well.

Did you make the windows transparent?

That's a nice trio - have you thought of making your own railway layout ?

Cheers

Great looking kit and very nice build Philip. The stairs made me wonder a bit - I would have placed those on the backside because the gable door has a crane like stucture above it. Minor detail and I'm certainly no expert on these structures.

Thank you all for popping in and leaving your comments.

Mike: I'd love a model railway but where do I put it? I'm up to here with stuff already.

Tappi: It does seem peculiar, I admit. What were they thinking of?

Tim: Sorry I left you out. Not so on the ball these days, it seems. The kit came with window transparencies.
