Rembrandts Dolls house
It seems to be ages since I posted a model. I should have given myself "time off" from making one model after another.
So now I have given myself a break - only while the glue dries on my current build. Last year we visited Holland , mainly to visit some of the art galleries. My favourite was Mauritz House in The Hague, a great collection of paintings and a shop full of "gifts" This kit was one of them. Before I bought it I knew it would be difficult. It's one of those "no cutting and gluing needed" I spent too many hours removing tabs and filling slots. Floors and walls aren't too bad but making the furniture was challenging, almost to the point of giving up. It was even worse when I realised that there were too many bits to fit into the house and were a little out of scale. I even went to sites dedicated to the real house, which made things worse !! I guess the best bit is a reminder of our visit to the galleries Here are a few pictures. The finished building is about 18 inches tall and is unusual for a dolls house because access to the inside is at the back and there is no back wall. |

Thank you for posting this. About 2 years ago, I started building a Light House doll house for one of my Granddaughters and ran into many problems, such as hinge material, wall thickness for lasting use, furniture selection, etc. I finally walked away from the partially built project. Your posting gave me the jolt that I needed to get back on the horse.
Great job on your build! John |
