US Civil War 12" Mortar Barge (1/250, Paper Shipwright)

I have just finished this nice little model. I applied some subtle weathering before sealing with matt varnish.

Nicely done. All of the Paper Shipwright models are well engineered, and this one provides a good introduction to the methodologies for building them.

Mortar is barely bigger than 1cm². Would never guess from the completed pictures.
As a European, these look very unusual. I don't know of such barges being used in any contemporary wars (Franco-Prussian, Crimea, Risorgimento, Schleswig wars etc)

Yes, the mortar cannon is a little model in itself!

I can't fault it. It goes together very well. Similar to the coaling barges from Paper Shipwright.
