Given the shortcomings of the kit, and the abundance of reference material on Pompeii houses, I wonder if designing a fresh model might be quite a viable project for someone here.

You have so many interesting models in your collection and it so much fun you building and presenting them. The house itself is a bit of puzzle - I tried to follow the floor plan and figure out what kind of an establishment it has been but got lost. The 'graffiti' on the front wall kinda suggest to some sort of business - tavern, grociries...
