Di you leave out short-range defensive weapons? Large gattling cannons to smooth out that stray destroyer or fighter squad might also be needed.

I mean, isn't that also a weapon type, albeit for point defence only, I think it should still be included somehow in the list, because it's obviously going to be needed during balancing

Of course we'll give a point rating to different point defense weapons, but every ship will have point defense weapons, besides the three main categories.

Yes. That's the idea. I made only a general point defense (PD) weapon by now just to be playable when I get into the fighter squadrons, but later, each race will have their own kind or type of PD weapon.

And I mean, different vessels can have different PD's as well. I don't imagine surviving a bombing run on a cruiser will be as easy as bombing a frigate...
