It's getting better and better. I am sure it's going to be a great model.

Agreed. I had seen a picture of Ft. Drum in a magazine many years ago. I actually saw it from a distance while working in the Philippines 20 years ago.

Hope to possibly visit it on my next trip in July.

Not sure why it has fascinated me for so many years, but it has and it will be great to have a chance to build a model of it.

Coming along nicely. I'm currently enroute to the Philippines. I'll be on the north side of Manila Bay, across from Corrigador for the next few weeks.

Looking forward to building this once its done.

thanks, erik

The cage mast is really what sets this fort apart from any other hardened defensive position of WWII. It really did function like a capital ship, only it didn't maneuver like one. Considering that they (the US troop regiment) held out for 5 months of sustained aerial bombing and coastal artillery bombardment this fort did it's job. Only the fall of the Corregidor made it necessary to surrender the position. Really amazing.

Great job Gary. Keep the updates coming!!!

Erik, I hope you enjoy your trip. Maybe you can snap some photos of the ruins of Fort Drum while you're there???

Going to try to get some photos. My location is on the north side of the bay, with Corrigadore is between me and Ft. Drum, so photos will take a little planning and work.

The cage mast is way over the top; promises to be awesome. The buildings also make for vet interesting subject. Hopefully the location for docking from ocean is detailed.

The promise of this model plus potential on-the-spot photos make for serious anticipation.
