Yes, very curious if this will work better than the laser cutters. Please post your experiences/learning curve as you use it.

Well I finally received and opened the ScanNCut2 package.
First issue is on a vendor for a 12x24 mat which arrived creased and bent due to the packaging in which they shipped the mat. (or we can blame USPS for the condition of the package by delivery time). 2nd issue is my fault for not reading more info in regards to the capability of the ScanNCut2 (CM100DM). Evidently it can ONLY direct cut a 12x12 area and not a 12x24. First I scanned a "World of Tanks on plain 20# 8.5 x 11 paper and set the cutter to 1. It took less than 30 seconds to scan and about the same to process the image. Cutting took approx 5 minutes for the page. Completed cut page. I highlighted some damaged areas found after the cut. After removing the paper this is what was actually cut. Could be due to my selection for the area to cut. This is the paper removed. As you can see there is quite a bit of items that were not cut. Unsure as to why this happened so will need to do more investigating to see if it was my issue or the cutters issue. As you can see even at a blade depth setting of 1, it did actually score the mat pretty good thru the paper. After adjusting the cutting pressure to -2 with the cutting blade depth set to 1, it now just barely scores the mat but not as bad as it shows in the 4th & 5th pics

I don't want this taking the wrong way. I'll bet it's a great idea and does a good job and is faster then cutting by hand but(there's always a but not a butt)I find cutting very relaxing and soothing. That's just me. It helps a lot with migraine pain. I haven't learned to think about two things at the same time so once I get into my modeling mode I can't think too much about the pain. Cutting is a art form which I have tried to learn as much for you experts here on this forum and my Coach. wc

Just a thought (me being the entrepreneur):
It would be nice to have a source of laser-cut railings for 1/200 and 1/250 ship models--one that didn't require paying postage from Poland. It could also help ease your pain from biting the bullet. --David

Hi David in my modeling career I used only once skeletal laser cut , my conclusion: I lost my best moment construction of the ship, inadvertently more laser-cut pieces.

If I was building a model that had a page of circles, or repetitive parts,
or multiple pages of repetitive parts... and I was tired of cutting... or my feet hurt... a scan and cut machine would probably make me smile at that moment. Once you work out the bugs, I'm sure you will find a good use for the machine. Its got some potential I am sure. But I also agree with the idea that cutting out parts is part of the hobby, part of the challenge, and part of the reward of "building it yourself".
