Canon Pixma MG3620
I'm looking for a cheap printer that will print models well for an upcoming trip. We will be staying in an apartment for a month and will probably want to print a few things. I don't want to pack up our Epson WF-3720 so I am looking at the Canon for $50 USD. Has anyone had experience with it, good or bad?
Thanks, Curt |

No, but I recently picked up an Epson WF-3720. It sure seems to be an ink hog compared to my old Brother. What is your experience? Also, do you use 'Quiet Mode'?

We don't print really large volumes so it seems ok.

I have been using the cheap Canon printers (various models) during the last years. The only hickup I found is that they seem to stop working after a fixed period (about two years) esp. when you use cheap non-canon ink. Not sure if this is a internet rumor and I just had bad luck or if this is a thing. Other than that I 100% happy with them. As a papercraft designer I print a lot and for that price I haven't found a reason to switch.

I bet any budget priced printer would do the job you want it to do. If you can, go go the local brick & mortar and print a Test Page to see the Quality level for yourself, and go from there.

That's pretty much the information that I was looking for. Thanks for the info!

Curt -
Sounds like good advice from Alan, and certainly the cheapest solution in the short run. It may be worthwhile considering a more expensive, but also more capable printer with ink tanks instead of cartridges. This is not an area of expertise for me, but I have been very happy with the Epson ET-4750 over the past couple of years. It is NOT cheap, but I no longer have the problem of lines running through my copies (when it happens, a few cleaning cycles clear up the problem) and I no longer have to replace ink cartridges often. The ink refills are expensive, but a refill lasts me for the better part of a year. I also find the scanning function to be very useful. Best wishes for whatever you decide. Don |

Seeif any of the printers in your price range have a rear paper feed, rather than an under the printer paper supply which requires that the paper takes a sharply bend path. The straighter the paper path, the heavier the paper you can convince the printer to accept.

I've been using the cheapest of the Canon printers (currently MG3650) for years and they have given me good service on the whole. They're slow and noisy but they get the job done well enough to keep me pleased.
