An interesting laser cutter

So, this came across my feed recently. Looks like a very interesting little machine. It would be fun to see if one could get it aligned to cut out paper models.

As far as I saw in the sample video, it has a "preview" mode: I imagine it allows you to see the path before cut it, and then place the sheet correctly aligned.

Here is the one I bought, simply because Microcenter offered it.

I am almost there with registration. I got it early summer. I add registration marks to my drawings, then cut just the marks, until I can get them to match. I found a GIMP filter to add bleed to texture drawings, so the color goes right to the cut line.

I love it. My favorite model is the Eiffel Tower. (which has no texture)

At the moment I am thinking about getting a laser cutter/engraver myself, I was thinking about the Wainlux, because to be honest, it's the only one I could afford at the moment.

Our library has a thing maker space. The staff is quite experienced. The recommendation was to wait until I could afford a laser cutter / engraver with a four sided frame.

The origin of this thread was about the model with a steerable cutting beam. Those were still very new then. Hoping Ryan Short can report out grand successes with it.

The other recommendation was to buy lightburn app to control the engraver / cutter. I never even tried the software provided with my unit, lightburn was that good.
