Ron, the wheeled cart idea is one I hadn't considered. Wonder if I can find one with a built-in beverage cooler?

Hello Guys & Gals,
Well I managed to get the Epson 1100 printer up and running.
The printer came with High Capacity ink cartridges and a CD
with software. A USB cable was not included but I used my
HP 9650 cable. The software CD did not include compatibility
for Windows 7 which I'm running on this Laptop so the software
and drivers were downloaded from Epson support. The setup
and installation of drivers was easy and flawless.
The first pages printed were of the model. No test sheets or
calibration was performed. I used 80lb legal size card stock
from Handmade Specialty Papers-Wedding Invitations, Envelopes, Stationery in the specialty papers area. The
printer settings I was using on the HP 9650 were the same as
I used on this machine. This one has a borderless printing
option so I'll check later to see if it will print out the sheets
without having to set minimum margins. The print quality
selected was Text & Images which is normal quality. You also
have options of Photo and Best Photo which I will probably
use with the coated 80lb cover paper on the next print
quality test.
I printed out all the pages of the model and I have to say
I am impressed with the quality of the print outs. It says
Laser Quality Printing and I agree it is comparable. I guess
the bottom line so far is it delivers whats advertised. I
will be doing further printing tests using using other
types of paper and A3 size sheets......Regards,Ron

Ron I printed some tabloid sheets...portions of the image about 1/8 inch from the edge of the page printed just fine. So far I am totally satisfied with the printer. And, with new models available for $150 or even less, I would recommend highly. I'm so happy with it I'm considering upping my bid on the model 600 all-in-one.

Darwin,
Another thing that surprised me was that on paper
selection you only had to select plain paper or white
paper to print on the 80lb card stock. No choosing
paper weight. It must sense the paper weight automatically.
That's good to hear about the edge margins......Ron

The Epson I used to have sensed paper thickness and width. It had a straight through paper path that could even handle bristol board. Unfortunately the print heads clogged and that was that. The non Epson ink I tried (cr@ptastic BTW) probably caused the problem. Now I have an HP all-in-one printer it's OK but paper handling and print quality are noticeably less than the Epson.

Epsom have on their site updates for windows seven for most of their printers I had to get an update one for my Epsom Cx3650 after buying the new windows 7 laptop. Sadly the handy epsom scan and other features that worked great with the windows xp and vista don't work with the windows 7 and it took me from April till a few days ago to figure that to scan you got to go to the control panel >hardware & sound > devices and printers.

got 3 printers myself, 1 HP color laserjet CP1215, now only for the bulkprinting due to the flaking (see other thread) of the models, then i have 1 HP Photosmart D5160 for photos and models on A4 formats and finally a Brother MFC5890CN to print photos and models in A3 format, they work perfect for the job, and for printerrack a use 2 bedside "tables" from IKEA which are put together on height , the laser is to big to fit in it so that is put on top of a cupboard (also from IKEA) that i use to store my model and photo sheets in as well as ink and laser cartridges
the rack and cupboard are cheap enough to make more of i needed more of them
can really recommend IKEA if you got one near by, as they are cheap and can be used in more ways that the intended one :D
by the way IKEA? yep i'm swedish ain't i
