build thread pdf?
How can one convert a build thread into a pdf to keep for posterity. In particular, I would like to capture the "How to get a little Beaver" thread as a pdf so I can include it as a tutorial with the model.

-Jim,
I was going to give this a try, my thoughts were just doing screen prints, saving as JPGs, editing them in photoshop, and then combining them into one PDF................ If this is another way, I hope someone will tell us. john |

depending on the version of acrobat or the feature list of the pdf programs(other than Acrobat) you can save each page of the thread as a pdf
then use acrobat to merge those pages together, and create a proper document I have done the first page of the thread as an example

I have Cute PDF Writer installed as a virtual printer.
Log on to the site, so the pictures (thumbnail versions in the posts) will show and go to the Beaver thread. Choose File>Save As>Web Page, complete (*.htm, *.html) That saves the thread on your computer. I then opened the Beaver thread that was saved and printed with CutePDF Writer. It printed all six of the pages of the thread as a pdf. The pictures remained thumbnail size. You could copy and paste the text into a word processing program, then copy and paste the larger pictures in the appropriate place. After you have the multi-page document with the text and pictures you could then print using Cute PDF Writer to generate a multipage pdf. Edit: Actually you don't have to save the thread to your computer. Just click File>Print and choose CutePDF Writer as the printer. It will save the thread as a PDF. If you have a bunch of Pdfs that you want to combine into one try this program PDFTK Builder

I'll do if no one else has, then post it in the files section....or here...or another post...or something like that.
If I don't see the entire thread PDF'ed by, say Saturday at 9pm (Pacific time), I'll begin work on the process.

I also have CutePDF and like it a lot - in fact I went on and purchased the Pro version. On the other hand, for some things, I prefer to use Open Office - which will convert a document directly to PDF without the "printing" process that CutePDF uses. The only drawback is that it sometimes seems to change the fonts up on me. Then, I go on and use CutePDF...

I use MS word. I copy and paste the thread in its entirety then I go back and remove all the thumbnails and replace then with the full size pics (or whatever fits into the margins) then I write if off to PDF. I can take care of this for you if you would like. I have done it a few times in the past. Unless of course any of the others that offered have already got a good start on it
