That is what Started the problem
Downloading straight in Maxthon browser
Stalled at about 54% and would Not resume.
No matter how many times I hit the refresh/resume button

It was AFTER that that I tried using Eagleget, DownThemAll
& Download Accelerator Plus.
Neither could even Find the zip or pdf file, just the code numbers
from here.

I have not tried to download from here since.
I am a bit afraid of getting the same result

I am betting the fact that I am using the Church's Wireless
and Not a modem in my own house has more to do with the failure
than the 3 Download Managers not liking this place.
Add in that this Craptop is so SLOW even with MORE bars of signal that the Tower
(When It connects) does not help either
The download drops off in incoming signal even though connection
stays the same
It drops down to 0 Bytes/Sec. After a short time
it goes Red/Dead!!

Some times I CAN get a download to refresh/resume, but Not always
And regardless of How I am downloading, Browser
or manager, some will Start over at 0%
Not a happy feeling when you had 90+% when stalled out!!!!!!!!!

Heck, Just had to do a Download Helper Video clip from YouTube THREE
times to get it!! (Firefox addon to download video from Most sites)

Oh well.
Guess I have to start going back to the Library.
Should be Better connection in there
Just Not easy carrying a Tower, Monitor, etc!!!
That is the BETTER PC
This CRAPtop is Still Very Slow in there

I am betting that is because it is suppose to be a win7 os PC
and was converted to 8 WITHOUT upgraded RAM/Processor!!

OK, just got the Moon Tractor zip.
Just so I don't try to download to much in 1 day, what is the limit??
I don't check the download section every day so end up finding
several new ones of interest
when I Do!! (Usually after reading a thread about it like the Moon Tractor)

Well, Having problems again
This time Staying connected to the file I want to get
On Both the laptop & Tower,I start a file, but after a
few Kb to 1-2 MB are saved, the download drops to
0Bytes/second.
After a few seconds at that, I get a Broken link and
Cannot resume or even Restart the download.

Is it the Problem I have keeping connection to the
net itself, or is something else blocking me??

I tried in both Maxthon & Firefox browsers With their
Standard browsers!!
I have tried DAP once, and all it showed as a "3" file
Eagleget only gave me the option to download the php file.

So, I am not sure what else to do.
Shut down ans restart the PC's??
Wait to download when I take them to the Library??

I sure wish I could afford Wired internet!!!

Ok, I managed to get the 26 1/4 KB jpg of the Navy Viper recolor,
But upon retrying another file, I get "You do not have permission
to download this file as you have reached the maximum
number of files allowed for today.

Wonderful!!!!!!

I get ONE file, and can not download again today
due to some connection problem
But, is that connection error on MY end, or elsewhere??

It has to be the internet provider in use by the church. There may be bandwidth limits in place to prevent people from abusing/using their bandwidth for anything other than the minimal browsing websites.

I don't think so
It can handle at least 256 connections at once
and I have only started having this problem
I am wondering how much Weather has to do with my Connection problems!!

I have downloaded Many videos from Youtube, etc through them with NO problems
Some in the 100's++ MB file size!!

So why do I have More problems trying to download from here than from other websites??

Hmm...that does sound weird. What I meant about bandwith limits was if the host sees a spike in data transfer (download), then they could limit the speed and/or connection of the specific IP which is doing the download. However, you say you download videos which are over 100MBs in size. As for the error about "You do not have permission
to download this file as you have reached the maximum number of files allowed for today." That is caused by the multiple connection attempts by either the download managers or each time you attempted to download something without one. Each attempt, although not successful, is perhaps counting as a download. If you look over on the right side of any of your posts, it shows you have downloaded/attempted to download 447.07 MBs of files.

I don't think the weather has anything to do with the connection/download problems unless you have downloaded from this website before in large file sizes in the past without problem. I do think though the new upgraded software for the forum may not play well with certain connections. Are you able to take your laptop to another location with free Wifi like McDonalds or Starbucks and try there? See if the results are the same.

I have taken this Tower, and the craptop to the Library.
Though connection a Very good, the tower still out runs the laptop
remember, that laptop was downgraded from win7 to 8
And it Sees More signal, but is MUCH slower!!
Maybe if I could get a CD/DVD installer for 7 and format the H-D on the laptop
then return it to its original OS, it would operate closer to its intended speed.

I do think weather does effect connection, as some days that are Colder,
or Hotter than average, I drop connection. Temp needs to be in a happy
medium for decent signal. Wha about Sun Spot (The Aurora was strong lately)
activity??

Yes, I was expecting that the more times I try to connect/complete/resume
a download from here is counted as a full download.
Even if I only manage 5% of the file.

As foir Vids, I just checked, of the ones I got last week, most were in the 25-55 MB level, but one was 295+, and it plays perfectly.
I do tend tom go for the Highest resolution I can get.
That one was 1920x1260 I think. Definitly higher that 1080!!
I have 2 that are over 1 GB!!! (Yes from Youtube, but I was at the Library when I go those--though did get some of those through the Church signal)

I Don't have a Pocket player, so don't bother with something that would
be Thumbnail size on the towers 19 inch monitor.

I am curious on the download count, Is that only sinc the upgrade here?
or since joining?
Yes, I have downloaded a Lot, but, try to stay at or below 5 in any one day.

I was told to look for a Signal repeater. is that the same as a Range extender?
If so, it may not work, I was told I might have to use TWO extenders,
1 here in my house, the other in the church for Optimum effect.

Got another strange happening here. Browser just closed all but this tab!!!
I hope this Tower is not Puking out the Hard-Drive like my Good xp Dell did!!!!

-------------------------------------

Well, Something is going on.
Managed 1% of a 3.8MB Container file.
Started ok at about 3-4KB/second, then started dropping.
went down to about 750+Bytes/second then up to 1022, then down to
485, then finally to 0. after a bit, it Red-lined. I hit the refresh/resume, but it stays at 0Bytes, and goes back to re-line.

Download Accellerator Plus only sees a 'Number" file,
Eagleget offered me "Download.php" which is a php file.
Cancelled both.
I guess, I will wait till Mon ( or other day nest week)
and see about going to the Library to get the 4 I want for now

I just checked the Thumb-Drive with my "PaperModelers" folder
That folder has 2.54GB of files, but, some of those are from Members Home sites, or from Threads which are not counted though the download section.
Plus, those are from the time we moved here from CardModels.
And Yes, I am still a member there like others here.

hey the-edsel. i have asimilar probleme. i can download from other sites just fine but not this one. the cause seems to be that vbdownlods is a php based web format and my hughes net satillite internet dosent work well with it. the problem youre having could be that the churches internet might not work for the same reasons. though i would suspect that your computer being slow could be from going from windows 7 to 8 or some of your internet settings from not being set right.as fore what php stands for it means personal home page and is basicaly the same as a .html that you see at the end of web adresses. the php format is an older format that is rarly used any more which is why some newer operating systems and internet providers have difficulty with them.

I am thinking it has something to do with how the Modem communicates with
the Routers (there are 3 or 4) within the church coupled with my distance for them.
The original building is concrete Block INSIDE as well as Out!!!
(That stopped an earlier experiment with wi-fi)

They use Comcast Cable, same as at the Library.
The 2 differences are Password and distance of signal travel from the church
and Open network and being IN the Library.

Last night even this Tower was being Slow like the laptop.

Yes, I was wondering if the laptop being built as a Win7 pc and altered to 8
slowed it too much.
This tower started life as an 8 pc.
It is an H-P p7-1423 8GB RAM, 1TB H-D.

Of course, I may be slowing it down some having at least 6 win folders open
2-8 Thumb-Drives plugged in (depends on files I am moving)
and have 2 separate Browsers opened with multiple tabs open in each.

But a 3GHz Multicore Processor and 8GB RAM should take MUCH More to overload!!

I can download from other sites fine.
Last night I just filled in several new kits from Cannon that I did not have.

I think If I could Get he correct link from DAP, or Eagleget, I Could eventually download the files even it I only got 1-10% a day.

But, I did get the NASA Viper repaint through this set up
right after it was posted, so why now???

Communcation error (Router-modem) in the church??
Comcast change??
Download system change here after that??

Now I am believing my problem is in the Tower!!
I managed to get 4 different files from here tonight
on this CRAPtop!!
Navy repaint of Ninjatoe's Viper, both 20 & 40 Ft containers
and the Germanwings A320.

So, Now to find what Might be causing the problem on my Primary PC.
I have Pro versions of iObit Anti Malware & AVG Internet Security.
Both from Shareware ON Sale FREE!!
Could those 2 cause this problem??

Otherwise, WHAT is the problem!!

Also What IS the Max # of files, or Size of files I can download in a day/week?
I Don't want to try to download too many!!

shouldnt be the anti malware or avg.though it wouldnt hurt to check the settings for them. could be that the some of ram is failing but that would effect other sites as well
as fore the max # of files after you make 10 post their shouldnt be a limite though i have still hit one. i dont know what triggers the limite since some times i can try to download a file 5 time and hit it then try the next day 10 times before hitting it.
