FGMM Sikorsky S-51
Not enough helicopters in the contest
I'm going to push the edge of insanity, and try to build the FG Sikorsky S-51 Dragonfly, the blue Sikorsky Corporate version. With clear tape greenhouse, and as detailed an interior as I can do before the guys in white coats come to take me away. I'm also gonna try and pack as much detail as I can onto her. And if it all works out, I'll ship off the interior to Chip to include in the folder. |

Murph -
I have built five of the FG Rotary Wings - My latest start is the Orange USCG S-55 and I have the Dragonfly in USCG yellow - interior done - trying to make a Clear front end that looks realistic. Would love to see a re-draw/re-paint of HUP-2 Easy to back date to a HUP-1. Was it you that was going to bring the CH-37 Mojave to life? I'm FG's main whirlybird designer, and I do have the Mojave on the list. As soon as I get the motivation and time to work on it, I'm gonna get it done.

Ok.
After discovering my printer now refuses to print on Cardstock, I had to make a few more modifications to the model than I planned on...printing on normal paper, then laminating it to cardstock. This should prove all kinds of interesting. Here's the forward fuselage. I haven't glued the last piece on yet, cause in order to do an interior, I have to be able to get inside. A better view of the front (I noticed the alignment issue and fixed it after this shot:o) I spent a whole day spreading little bits of clear tape all over my apartment, and finally managed to get the nose attached to the rest of the fuselage. I found a roll of foil tape in my utility box, so anything that I think should look metallic will. Oh, and I simply rolled a piece of card stock, then covered it with the tape, after coloring the inside and edges black to form the exhaust pipe. I also cut out the vents, and glued a second printing inside, to make them recessed. On to the interior!! I did some research and came up with these pics: This one looks familiar for some reason That should be easy to do Ooh, interior cutaway. That'll come in handy Last edited by murphyaa; 03-10-2010 at 11:01 AM. |

Wow!
I did some models before by printing on regular paper then gluing it to cereal boxes. It worked for the most part. Your model looks great so far. I may hae to get this one too. CT

That three-view & cutaway would be ever so nice to have stacked away in an appropriate place. Any chance of an original resolution?
In return, a more head-on view of the instrument panel. - L |
