The clay I used is air drying modeling clay. In the attached photo these pieces were dried overnight. The pieces come apart very easily. To dry them faster just put them in the oven for a few minutes. I have also used Sculpey and it does have to be baked. After drying, I sanded the wheels lightly and then painted and then glued on the center section. I have used this method on my last few models and it works well for me.

Very nice! I also like the idia of using clay for exhaust pipes.
