USS Canonicus 1/250

Having finished my Onondaga and just waiting for the beta build to finish, I went ahead and started the next project on my list, the USS Canonicus. Canonicus was the lead ship of the Canonicus class monitor. Their unique hull shape was the result of attempts to increase the top speed, but they still fell short of their designed top speed of 13 knots. They mounted twin 15-in Dahlgren smoothbore canons. The Tecumseh was mined and sunk at the battle of Mobile Bay, and was the only member of the class to be lost.

I managed to acquire copies of some plans from a friend (thanks again Devin!) so I am hoping I won't need to do as much research as I have in the past. Scale as always will be 1/250 and in waterline format.

Re: USS Canonicus 1/250

I plan on doing all of the USN monitors, all the way through the Civil War and post-Civil War era. There should be about three or four more Civil War era ships. Then a set of four post-Civil War ships, starting with USS Puritan. So I won't be done for while. I want to do all of the Monitors built for the USN.

Re: USS Canonicus 1/250

90% ready, just need to complete the optional turret and funnel parts, and then I'll be done with the parts. Should have it off to my builder within two weeks for sure. :D

Re: USS Canonicus 1/250

And I have another (USS Montauk 1898 version) well along processing for a Mid-September release, with another (The Peruvian Manco Capac) ready for unfolding and a fourth (USS New Ironsides) under development. :D So I should have four released within two weeks of one another. After that it'll probably slow down to a rate of about one every month.
