Great Lakes River Class Bulk Carrier "Great Republic"

With already three Great Lakes bulk carrier designs under the belt, it is time for a new one.

This time a more modern looking, all-astern accomodation block/bridge design has been picked, and what better than what is arguably the most agile 600+feet cargo ship in the world, Great Republic.

Perhaps the hardest part would be the bow's shape, but I have a great plan to go around the problem.

Starting next week, I will try to start gathering some more resources, then I proceed into 3D stage.

That's exactly what I usually do.

The one and only time I made full hull was the Zumwalt class destroyers.

Here is the first update.

Hull and superstructure have been made, and tomorrow I will proceed to the trunk and unloading boom.

There are the hatches to make too.

Once everything is done, I will either have to resort to a friend in order for the unloading boom to be textured, or anyone else here familiar with texturing can also apply for helping texturing it, along with the superstructure.

In the latter case, those who participated directly at collaborating for the textures will automatically receive the model in both「American Republic」and「Great Republic」.

A new day brings new updates; unloading boom and hatches have been completed.

Now I move on for the unfolding process.

What scale will you be putting it out in?

The same as every other I made so far: 1/350.

But printing in A3 sheets has proven an approx. 1/200 too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The unfolding is completed, and most parts now have gluing tabs; tomorrow I keep adding gluing tabs to the other modules, before passing on to texturing.

As you can imagine, this phase is now made halfly on my good old MS Paint, while there's a good chance some of these modules will have a Photoshop treatment.

I am still awaiting a candidate to texture the hardest part for me, the boom, to step forward; remember, just that will qualify you to have this model in BOTH guises, also qualifying you as honorable Beta testers (other reason is that I would like a critique on the building difficulty/quality from someone else besides me).

Some scraps of what's been done so far.

With the whole hull textured to represent my primary target, Great Republic, the race is now on to finish everything else, notably the accomodation block and the unloading boom, then I can finally redistribute the parts for printing and starting building tonight, hopefully, and spend Sunday resuming building.
