Halinski Q1 Releases
It seems Halinski is going back to the jet age (?) and I think it's about time! I think they started off with jet models, and have been doing prop aircraft since.
The MIG 29A 1/33 will be published around February or March 2012, and the Tomahawk MK iib 1/33 has already been published. http://www.halinski.com.pl/indexgb.php The prototype images for the MIG 29A look very promising, and the engine section looks like a modeler's delight! The cover of the Tomahawk seems to have a double variant option (?) They seem to have planned other publications in the summer months. |

Looks great. Years ago Halinski advertised a Mig29, even had a cover but never published it. Hope this one gets out.

Well, it's April 16 here in California, and I can see no indication of a punctual release date on the MiG 29.
However, I've been browsing Polish, Czech, and other European forums - and I'm not sure what to discern as rumor and as fact. The general consensus seems to be revolving around the assumption that the MiG 29 will be an expensive model - somewhere around the neighborhood of some $40 or $50. In fact, I'm even assuming that it'll be +$10-20 of that price range. Also, it seems that the models are going to be released soon. There are indications that the printing batch is complete, and I would expect them to go on sale somewhere this week. I must say, I'm in love with the Halinski engineering/design work - not to mention the superb quality - but $50+ for one model! I could half-heartedly understand something like a 1:200 Naval vessel running around that price, but a subject such as modern aviation usually doesn't have part counts that reach the some 10,000+. Sigh...I feel a sour taste in my mouth... |

MiG-29A is out! But for an astounding $67 D:
Also, it seems like Halinski developed a kit right under our noses! However, I do have a feeling that I saw this one being worked on by an independent designer on Konradus. It just felt so long ago! (Perhaps I'm wrong, but I remember something very distinctly). So, P-51B Mustang is out as well, running around $20. |

That is too pricey for my tastes, although most definitely a top notch kit from a acclaimed publisher, it is nearing the price of top tier plastic models and exceeds the price of many plastic model kits which is too much for a cardmodel.

card models are interesting, the more detailed, the more parts need to be cut out, folded and formed by the modeler. At some point, their will be so many details average modeler would be unable to complete because of time constraints or simply, patience. Expensive plastic model kits are usually so expensive because of the molded in detail, fit, finish etc, not the shear number of parts.

WOW, $67 for an airplane model... it MUST be a very very good model.
Exactly, buffalowings. I just saw an Me109 in plastic, and the modeler spent more on the details than in the model itself. The paper models have all the details included in the kit, like you said. I wonder if we can see ready-to-apply details in paper, so you just buy them and put them on our kit... and made of paper. Here´s the table of prices of the Mig-29 and the P-51. 64 P-51B Mustang 1:33 14,75 € / 20,00 $ 65 MiG-29A 1:33 50,00 € / 67,00 $ Now, I always look for new models (not to buy them, not all though), in this place: modellservice - der Kartonmodellshop And they haven't listed (as of 4/26/2012) the Halinski new models, still in the "On the way" section ("Auf dem Weg"). Maybe because marketing purposes. |
