Apollo 11 Columbia CM - Ken West mod kit

PLEASE NOTE...this is a "conversion kit" meaning it converts an existing model which you must already have.

My kit converts Ken West's 1/12 scale Apollo Command Module to look like the Apollo 11 spacecraft "Columbia"
as it looked when it returned to Earth and splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean on July 24th 1969.

While Ken's original model was designed to be built and displayed in exploded view, showing the various internal structures and compartments,
I focused more on a closed static display model, and made some modifications to the external surfaces and how they assemble.
I'm sure you can still build the model in exploded view with a few minor alterations.

I've updated some of Ken's original instructions to reflect the modifications.
Also included are new detailed assembly diagrams and instructions applying to all the replacement parts.
Everything is divided into sections that correlate with ken's original build order.

Mod Kit will be available at Paper Model Shop Home and at ecardmodels.com

I know there was discussion of these waste ports earlier in the thread, but I ran across a more in-depth description of how they functioned. In case anyone wanted to know how they handled astronaut waste back then, lol. BTW, this CM was from the Skylab era, but I guess if tthe plumbing ain't broke, don't fix it...

Thanks Cory.
The Waste Water ports were discussed in the CM design thread, but thats okay.

I saw this video way back when.
Last time I was in the Restoration Hangar (thanks Anne!) the LEM simulator was in a crate
along with some other related NASA stuff...
but the CM was not there.

Had it been there, I would have been very excited to climb all over it and take photos!!!!!!!!
(long before this project was ever a consideration)
I think I missed seeing it by one year!
Disappointed.
