Me 262 GPM
Has anyone built this one? I have this kit and have started on it, and was wondering if there is any sage advice out there re this 262. I seem to have messed up in more than one area...so far...

I believe there was a build of it, either here or on zealot. There were a couple issues, wing tips not fitting and the rear stripe coloration not matching right, IIRC correctly. 2 major issues that dissappointed me - because I love that plane and had this kit as one of my wish list models and it moved down the list when I read you'd need to do a scan / resize of parts to have a decent complete model. I'm walking out of the office door for an errand, but when I get back I'll search for the build I'm talking about.

This isn't posted to disappoint but a few years back on a card site here in the US either Saul Jacobs old site or an earlier one they did a comparison of the 1/33 262 kits. The article used parameters of fit, actual likeness to the original detail etc. THe winner of the bunch was the Modelik 262 kit. It is now out of print but pops up time to time at papermodelstore, GPM.pl "old section" etc. From what I can remember about the GPM the misfit problems I think were just printing issues.

Here's the build I was thinking of. Like I remembered, the wingtips were too small, and there was the print issue with the red stripe on the tail section.

Thanks guys, now you tell me. No, not really, I have enjoyed the build, only the number of problems is making it difficult. I think the formers sheet is slightly small, can be compensated for, the gun ports do not come close to lining up with the channels and barrels (8 mm) or just glue the channels/barrels to the former and don't have them run through to the guns ( if you choose to display them, the model can have them displayed). Thanks for letting me know of the known issues, Personally I can't see the illustrations well enough so enlarged them at work on the copy machine.

Plus the Schwalbe is generally one of the coolest looking plans ever!

Huh. I built this one a few years back and don't remember any of these fit problems at all. I remember it as a straightforward and very clean build. Not too exciting in terms of detail but it looks very nice. My own problem was that I built it with the gun covers open and the guns visible which left me very little room for nose weighting... I've thus needed to anchor the nose down ever since. I should have a picture around somewhere...

it is possible that its an "operator problem" Carl, this is a fine looking model if I could get things to fit, you just may be a bit better than me at that! You sure was the GPM?
