Burgess-Dunne 3 of 1910

Here's one that I would really like to see as a Modelik or Orlik kit.

You gave me a chuckle with this one, Rick. Let's see, vacuum forming the canopy is not difficult and often not necessary, wheels are easily made from laminated card and frames... I don't mind using prefab frames sometimes because my hands have started hurting more easily but I actually prefer the ones I make myself.

Thanks Carl,

I was hoping that James would understand that learning involves having to do it the hard/old way before you know the shortcuts.

I always do that with people who I need to teach the PC, teach them the hard way, and then the shortcut.

Rick

Just catching up with your excellent review of this historic aircraft, Peter. I've always thought that this was a good-looking airplane. It played a very important role in the development of U.S. naval aviation and I am glad that there is a kit available.

Is there a Vought VE-7 and/or VE-9 and O2U out there somewhere?

And one of my dreams is to some day build a stick and tissue model of the Martin BM.

Not to my knowledge.. Would love to have any of those early Naval Aircraft in card.. Years ago I did some high quality vacs "Esoteric" of some of the gems from the 30's, and from what I remember off the top of my nugget, the Martin was an early torpedo bomber? Sure wouldn't mine seeing you build a stick and tissue model of one..

I picked up a few Esoteric kits. but never built them. Any pics of those models, Peter?

The BM was a dive bomber -- stablemate of the Martin TM. It was fielded in small numbers and is relatively unknown, but to me it has always been the quintessential 1930s U.S. carrier dive bomber. I have the plans -- if only I had the time and skill!

No pictures.. Way before my computer days, and all sold. I had a collector at the time that bought all of the pre-WWII plastic that I did. This was before Eduard.. Roden.., so the only different pre-war subjects back then were mostly vacs.. The higher quality ones IMO were FormaPlane.. Esoteric.. RosePlane in 1:72.. AeroClub made a couple of 1:48 Between the Wars kits that were beauties.. I think they might have been the Hawker "Demon", & Gloster "Gauntlet" ?? Wouldn't mine getting my hands on one of them again.

Thanks for the nice print

English

Peter,
does the kit feature an English translation of the instructions, and if so, how "understandable" is it in your opinion?

Thanks!
