New 1/33 SR-71 Blackbird model by Marek

I noticed Ecardmodels has released a new 1/33 scale model of the Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird SN 61-7967 by Marek.

The write up at Ecardmodels states the model has 15 pages of parts and 3 pages of instructional diagrams. The pages need to be printed on A3 size (11.7 x 16.5 inches) cardstock. Those who are located in countries that don't use this format can probably print the files on ledger size (11 x 17 inches) cardstock.

Does anyone have any additional information about this model? Is this model constructed using butt joints or tabbed joiner strips?

Thanks for the info, Texman.

I have a few Marek models I bought and downloaded about 15 years ago and all of them had butt joints. Do Marek's newer models use tabbed joiner strips?

It seems that way. Took a look at some from 2018, and they do.

rutzes,

Thank you for sharing your photos of the printed SR-71 model. Do you know how long the model will be when completed?

Hello billmcc. At 1/33 scale the finished model will around 39 inches. SR-71 Blackbird length was 107 ft 5 in.

I have the KWest 1/32 kit. I haven't attempted to build it yet. I have just measured the internal structure parts and it will be around 40 inches when completed.

WOW! That makes it 3 feet and 3 inches long. Not sure if I have the room to display a model that large. Reducing it to 1/72 scale is an option.
