Well, Johnny, I am almost done with my Grant (just put on the second set of tracks! now just the finishing touches....) and am tempted, but you have built three or four while I have yet to finish one! I would be left behind in your dust!!

Don't think that Chris!!
Remember I'm building this at work....and I have a lot of time at home I think it would be nice to have someone to discuss the build with and come up with solutions on different matters. So left in someones dust you would not be!! |

Ok, Johnny, I will give it a shot.... I have the laser cut frames and wheels, but not the tracks.... I will attempt to keep up... Perhaps a little nudge now and then!

Sounds very nice Chris!!
I'll cut some frames.....I messed up my laserframes!!! So I had to destroy it all :( Such things happen when you dont get the numbers right.... So now I have to make the framework the old fashion way |

The Luchs could be an interesting build. I noticed that the Luchs track was different from the usual style used on Panzers in that it was driven from extensions supporting the track pins - somewhat like the Sherman. I've seen this referred to as a "skeleton" track. In modelling terms this probably means that the best results would be obtained by building the track from individual links - there are (only) 185 links to build....
My copy of the Luchs model has the page of links printed out of square so the top few links are partly chopped off - fortunately there are spare parts for these. I guess WAK's quality control had a problem. I also noticed the frames for the Luchs have the same issue I ran into with the Pz 1F - the frame part which covers the front and bottom of the hull is drawn as a single piece. Since 1mm card isn't easy to bend I cut it into pieces but remembered to carefully label the order the pieces went on the hull. Johnny - have you thought about tackling a Halinski Bergepanther, T-34/76 or perhaps a Modelik T-100 - might give the rest of us a chance to build a recent AFV model before you make our efforts look ordinary. The framepart that makes the front and bottom of the hull is supposed to be cut out as separate pieces. The laserparts are also in several pieces on that part.
The track is as you say of the "belt" kind with no bolts between links. It will be interesting to see them on the tank since the laser cuts really looks good!! I have bought the halinski bergepanther from Russell But when I'm going to get to build it is another question......too little time. |

LOL now I see what you ment!!
But I can assure you that I have to blame the finishing of the models on the designers behind them, and not my skills. So don't worry, I'll be picking along in my slow unstructured way.... |

Do these prestige kits come with lasercut frames???
I don't want to think the kits I bought on Ebay should have come with something I could have gotten from the publisher. Not that I wished to have gotten it cheaper but that it's more convenient than having to go back and buy/ship something. bleh... Anyhow. Can't wait to see this PZII in progress. |
