The laser cut frames/tracks are usually after market. The tracks for the Luchs are done by DRAF model
(www.drafmodel.pl) - $US25.88. The frames are sold separately by WAK (www.wak.pl) - $US7.56 as well as their version of the tracks ($US28.84) and a brass gun barrel ($US1.98). (current PLN/US$ exchange rates) I guess it's a value call whether spending more on the after market stuff compared to the original model is worth it. Regards, Charlie |

I also see a huge improvement in available laserframes theese two years I have been doing cardmodels.
Almost every new model from Wak,ModelHobby,Orlik etc now comes with available laserparts as frames wheels and tracks. And for us who can't make a 90deg straight cut in 1mm cardboard it's just priceless |

I'm not bad at cutting... it all comes apart (an oxymoron) when I am gluing.

That's the PzII Luchs at Saumur?
I'm always a bit suspicious of museum vehicles because of the possibility of well meaning but inaccurate restoration in the past. Most of the period images of the Luchs aren't clear enough to be absolutely definitive but I notice that the pl****c models of the Luchs do seem to use a 7 ripple roadwheel. It looks like it might take a bit of research to resolve this issue. There's always the possibility that the Luchs was built with both 7- and 8-ripple roadwheels - German production lines tended to vary the builds depending on component availability. [Edit] - This is an image link to the Bovington Luchs roadwheel (image too big to attach) - I count it as 7 ripples. http://ampsnz.hobbyvista.com/realafv.../Luchs-261.jpg Regards, Charlie Last edited by CharlieC; 12-23-2007 at 09:45 AM. |

It can be difficult to tell with camo and without guide lines but...

Damn - I guess I've got to go digging to try to resolve this. Anyone have David Fletcher at Bovington's e-mail address? Possibly he could go and look at the original if we asked very nicely. Regards, Charlie |

I'd agree with the count of 8; looking at the most prominent ripples, you seem to have pairs at right angles to each other.
That implies an even division, unless they're not equally spaced... Or I'm just tired :D

I've heard of "rivet counting." Now I am enjoying watching this "ripple counting" take place. Ah, the joys of research!
