A Better Boeing

There's been a lot of new airliners available thanks to Stefino and Jaromir Smid. Their Airbus aircraft build up to be beautiful display models. If I had the time and room, I would build them all. But after building a couple of his Boeing 737 models, it occurred to me that they didn't look quite right. Then I remembered that Americans are fat people that design fat airplanes. I'm afraid that Stefino's Boeing 737 models are much too thin, especially in the cockpit (oops, I mean flight deck) section. So here's my take on how the chubby little Boeing 737-700 should look like. The AirTran model is mine, the Southwest model is Stefino's repainted by Jaromir.

I think you nailed it on the nose area! That is much more like the actual aircraft. (No disrespect meant to the original designer. It's hard to match curves like that)

Wanting to know the exact bigness of Boeings and in particular their fatness ?
Boeing will tell you in their Airport Compatibility manuals. Go for the "Complete Document" which includes dimensioned drawings.

It's all done with Google Sketchup, Paint.net, and two weeks of trial and error printing and building. I've got a wedding to go to this weekend, so should have the finished product ready early next week. I'm tweaking the wing and also want to redo the engines. I'm also planning to make a 737-200 series with the JT8D-17 engines. Maybe make up a T-43 version for the military buffs.

RunwayOneSixRight, it's N380WL from Pace Airlines contracted to HootersAir. It's now registered as PK-LIU and still flying. I just found another paint scheme that really needs to be modeled:
