Air Force Museum visit

I had a free day in Cincinnati, so I drove over to Dayton to visit the Museum of the Air Force. I had a couple models in the car so decided to have some fun. It was a good visit, no wife, family, or friends to complain about 6 hours of wondering around airplanes.

Its been many years since I've been to the Air Force Museum. Sounds like a fun visit. I always prefer going alone. That way if I have an agenda, or just want to wander aimlessly, don't have to worry about keeping up with someone else or them getting bored.

Very nice knife, thanks for sharing the photos. It must be nice to get out. We've just been put back into lock down.

Thumbs up

Great visit for sure.

It would have been nice if you visited while I was still doing the tours at that museum. I would have given you a private tour.

As an aside, I loved displaying many of my paper models at the museum. They actually encouraged me to display them on many occasions.

Cool Get inside the planes

Expanded opportunities to be inside some of the museum planes.

Visitors will get a closer look at National Air Force Museum aircrafts beginning this month – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

Nice! An Air Force buddy of mine works there named Brent Richburg, he probably knows the history of every aircraft there!

Well, actually I pretty much know the history of every aircraft. Even flown a few of them. Been doing this airplane thing a long time. Isaac, wish I had more time during the meeting you set up in Dayton a few years ago to have gone through the museum with you. Thanks again for all your efforts in arranging that meet up. And your models are museum quality. I would have to take a hammer to the museum’s F-101 Voodoo to get it look like my model.

It is a unique experience being at the USAF museum. Same in Pensacola. However, Pensacola is still closed to the general public ( you need a special permission to get get on the base though ).

Might I suggest the Army Aviation Museum in nearby Dothan, Alabama, and the Air Force Armament Museum in Fort Walton Beach? They are now both open up in the panhandle. Not as great as Pensacola, but worth a visit. Hurlburt Field has a nice collection of props and rotors, but not sure if they are letting people on base.

Had this fine fellow follow me while taking off from Alliance, Texas last week.
