Turning out pretty good for all that trimming - are these fit issues a showstopper fro the kit?
Thanks
Chris

The aileron fit issue: the rear former definitely needs trimmed to allow the aileron assembly to slide in place. Trying to "fish" the parts through the rear fuselage cutout with the former intact does not work. This was an easy fix though.

The wing fit issue: some of this is probably my fault but it seems the internal wing structure is a little too large to enable proper fit. I didn't get the wing skins far enough onto the structure to close the gap where the two pieces meet in the middle and actually they would need to overlap slightly so they can conform to the fuselage curve and still meet flush. On the flip side trying to trim these thin spar parts any further would be very difficult to do well.

Is this something the typical modeler (not their first build) would be able to overcome?
Thanks!
Chris

Yes, I think the average builder could overcome these issues. I'm average and I overcame them.:D

I've finished and installed the engine cowl. Parts fit is very good. Once again the formers fit better when cut just inside the line. It does take some planning in regards to the sequence of assembly, you cannot assemble it numerically due to the interaction between the formers and internal connecting strips.

Here is the rest of the story, er build. This was a nice short project to recharge my model building batteries after the Admiral "saga".

One note: Part 44 is not shown on any of the build drawings and I would not have known what it was or where it went if I did not have a plastic MPM 1/72 version with decent box art. It is the pitot tube on the left wing.

I could definitely recommend this one to just about anyone.
