Marek Marathon: 1:50 IAR 80

Now that the Admiral is done I can contribute to the Marek Marathon with my build of the IAR 80. Not sure why, but I've always kinda liked this plane. Maybe it 'cause it has Mickey Mouse on the side.

Three pages make up this offering: The cover page, a history page half filled with parts (printed on regular paper) and a page I printed on 68# card.

I always liked the look of this airplane, too. And the Romanian color scheme is very good looking, too, in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to seeing you apply your skill to this one, Greg!

Good choice modelperry. I have the printed version of this model ( by KEL ) , but I didn't have time for it. I will watch with great interest your construction . My only regret is that Marek doesn't have a 1:33 version.

I'll be following this one as well. Best of luck on it. It's a good looking plane and this color scheme is an eye-opener. I share Dragos' lament that there's no 1:33 version.

Count me in too. One of my favourites - both because it's a blast in IL2 and for it's background Certianly the most successful of the 'cobbled together' fighters - PZL 24 fuselage, scaled down SM-79 wing. Would have been a world beater with a BMW 801 on it.
Orlik's kit is not bad, but dated. Hopefully Marek is following the thread........1:33? Please? Rosariu's 'Getta' while we're at it?

Building has commenced. The first three fuselage segments are assembled. the formers fit perfectly when trimmed just inside the line on this one.

Wow, looks like you got a great fit on the formers! Well done. It's been interesting to see how one designer can vary so much between kits, both in approach and fit.

More progress has been made on this project. I'm up through the wings so far. Everything has fit well until I got to the wings. I couldn't get them to fit to the fuselage correctly an ended up splitting the assembly in two. I then trimmed the internal spar/framework to get the wings to fit better. Come to think of it I had to trim the rear most former to get the ailerons to fit properly as well.
