Marek Marathon 1:50 Me109D

Just finished this little gem. I should have done a build thread on this one as it is a very nice model;

The only issue I ran into was the same one that several others have come across on these 1:50 kits; some of the bulkhead formers were a little small.
But it went together well regardless;

The only thing I don't really care for on smaller scale kits is sanding down the tires;

Not even my sloppy, quick build could mess this one up too much. I did manage to get a few bends in there where I pushed a little too hard!

This is only my second model with wheel wells and these were a breeze to do.

There is an interior to this kit. It's not much more than a control panel and a seat, but it's nice to see something in there!

I really enjoyed this one. It's the best designed and fit Marek kit I've done so far.

Oh, what a wonderful building technique in 1:50. Immediate question: How did you manage that fine canopy?

And on a more forum-technical level: How do you get your small images into the text?

Thanks, Leif! I use contact cement to do my canopies. I know it's a bit clunky to work with, but it holds exceptionally well. I got tired of the clear plastic popping loose from the usual glues. I use a needle or toothpick to apply the glue and on these small canopies, I just lay the clear plastic over the glued paper...carefully. On larger canopies, I stiffen the canopy frame with super glue and then lay the clear plastic in a small section at a time.
As to the small images, I simply load them with the paper clip attachment here and when I insert them, they show up as the small images. I don't even know how to insert larger images!

An excellent Emil, Chris!

You sure work fast and good. I'm glad to see all these Marek models being built.

Very nice model! I had forgotten that the square wingtips were there in the beginning on the BF109. Is this one offered in 1/33 and 1/50? It'd be a nice version to have in larger scale.

I believe this aircraft (and a couple more early 109s) can also be found as a Gremir product - scalable to just about any size!
