HMV Models are now available in North America

Hello Friends,

As some of you may know, I am an American who lives and works in Germany. In the several years that my wife and I have been over here, we have been to many paper model conventions and shows and had to the opportunity to meet many publishers and designers and generally the "who's who" of card modeling in eastern Europe. In particular we have become friends with Benjamin and Uli owners of HMV http://www.facebook.com/pages/HMV-Ha...ation=timeline. HMV is known for accurate, highly technical 1:250 scale Ship models. They also produce 1:250 scale Trains, Architecture and Dioramas. The models range in length from .75" workboats up to the 3 foot long BISMARK and in difficulty of 10's of parts up to several thousand.

Well, one thing has led to another and my Father has made arrangement's with HMV to be the Official HMV Distributor in the US. He recently received his first bulk shipment (living in Portsmouth VA, he drove right to the port to pick the boxes up from customs!) of about 50 to 60 different models including their lasercut sets (when available) in significant quantities.

Eventually, when HMV finishes revamping the website and converting the text to English (which all of us have been working on) you will be able to order from that online store and have it shipped from the US.

Currently though, you can contact David via email at [email protected] and he will cheerfully give you any information you desire including a phone number you can call during business hours. He also sells on eBay at http://stores.ebay.com/HMV-paper-models?_rdc=1

David will provide catalogs and any information you need.

Best Regards,

Cris

This is great news, Cris... I like the idea of being able to order online and have it shipped from the U.S. This should shorten the wait times for delivery along with reducing shipping costs. Good luck to your Dad. He'll be getting my business one day, for sure.

Steve

I agree. There's always an HMV model or five on my list.

Thanks Cris.

Hello Friends,

Thank you all for your kind words and support! Kevin and Bilu, thank you. Steve, your exactly right, I can recall waiting weeks for a model to arrive not to mention the shipping costs and hassle of translating the German site.

Without sounding too ridiculously "corny", this was a labor of love on our part. It took many weeks of emails, phone calls and visits to work out the logistics to bring these to the US and set up for the long term.

As I said in the first post, Benjamin is just a week or so away from bringing the revised and fully translated website/storefront back on line. Still, knowing you can call someone (toll free!) to check on the status of an order or ask questions is quite comforting.

Please feel free to ask any questions, I will make sure they get answered. Also, in addition to the build threads here and on Kartonbau.de, I have posted links to pictures that Mia (my lovely and ever so patient wife) and I have taken of several of the real vessels HMV has based models on like the BLEICHEN, STETTIN, The Hamburg Hafen Museum, ELBE 3, and several others.

As you browse the cover pictures above and below, "Bogen" is Sheet and "Teile" is parts. So for example the MAINE is 12 sheets plus pictorial instructions and 860 parts

Lastly, in a bit of news, Benjamin just finished the lasercuts for the EVG, at some 2998 parts the lasercut is possibly the largest produced. Our collegue Andreas has a build report here:EGV Frankfurt am Main / HMV / 1:250

Best Regards,

Cris

Ordered FRACHT-UND PASSAGIERDAMPFER ALBATROS and the laser cut details set a few days ago. Looks like a nice ship. Looking forward to other HMV model kits that will be made available. The architectural models sound good, too.
