Micro Mini Entry FG Nieuport 17

Hello All,

Well still having a bit of trouble with my left eye but I can't let this contest go by without giving it a try :P

I scaled the Nieuport down to 1/144 scale as I've gotten into the Wings of War WW1 Card/Board/Miniatures game so I wanted to build the FG models in scale for the game anyway so it was a convient choice.

Here we have some build up pix. Nothing really noteworthy of comments here.

More build process. The Gun was fun to roll in 65lbs. card stock.

I used to think Texman was crazy to build at this scale with 65lbs. stock. I used to only use construction paper for this size. I couple planes to use as miniatures with construction paper and found them too flimsy to be used as such so this is the 1st time I've tried to build at this scale with card instead. If I tried years before I probably would have failed miserably but with more experience I actually did it.

This is the 1st time I've tried my hand at this particullar model as well.

Nearly done now. Just have to attach the Anti-Zepplin Rockets when the paint on the back sides dry.

The sticks at the back of the rockets proved too difficult to cut so I removed them. I replaced em with a thin strip of card which added a bit of depth to the back side :D A little paint and they're ready to mount. I probably wouldn't have added em period but Chris said to include all original details so here we go.

That is just too awesome Getter! Heck of a job, especially considering you are doing it with one bum eye.

Thanks TH :D

Just saw your build to :D lookin great so far.

The eye can't focus right in or outside bout 11 to 12 inches :( It was hit last year by flying debris and was ok till October of this year. The tear on the cornea re-occured and I had a strumel puncture done to reinforce the healing tissue. All was good till I acidentally hit it in my sleep and it has been out of focus for a few weeks now. After the 3 procedures I had it took over a month before the focus returned to normal so I could be looking at this for another week or 2 :(

Oh well, can't keep me from building models :P

Anti-Zep Rockets mounted and she's done :D

I'ld try to add rigging but my eye wou't be able to handle it. It being destined as a game piece later on also makes it not worth it as much.

I'm no longer afarid of using card for this scale. Made for a very strong model that I'm not afraid to use in a game. the construction paper ones are not up to that kind of use IMO.

Hope everyone likes it. I'm happy with the results.

I may do another entry along these lines. Hmmm now to choose which one to build next. Perhaps the Gotha Bomber

Hmph, wha? Someone call me crazy?

Very good for your first attempt with 65lb and a 1/144 kit. I'm suitably impressed!

I fully understand about trying to model with a bum eye. I have about 50% of the central vision loss in my right eye, so I hope your focus returns soon!

I await your next 1/144 scale adventure!
