Thanks, I'll look into them as I work at a hardware store...Industrial Hardware, but we have lots of different epoxies to select from.

One possible problem - epoxy is much more rigid once cured than white glue. So the burst might start not at seams but where the paper is no longer impregnated. As usual, experimentation is needed, and we're holding our collective breath waiting for new results |

Change to Launcher System
Binding is the main problem. Using the PVC pipe, the problem can only be fixed by enlarging the internal PSI Tube.
Confined to an Lazy-Boy chair for rest/healing of an operation, caused me to look at the problem in a completely new light. Actually drifting in and out of sleep, the first thing I would see as my eyes focused was the vertical launch barrell. The more I looked at it, it became apparent what the real issue/problem is. (The launch system is stored in my living room in front of the chair) The 6 ft PVC barrel has a very big "Bow" or bend in it. Check out this photo of it next to a straight edge. It doesn't look to bad, but to overcome it the PSI Tube diameter would need about 1/2" clearance all the way around. The straight edge just happens to be a 1" metal conduit pipe that will replace the PVC. The Electrical Metal Tube (EMT) was an easy replacement. Another issue with the system = once the rocket is ready to launch, any breeze and the rocket starts to rock back and forth (adding to the binding problem when trying to launch). There was no support for the launch barrell other than the system itself. Made a new platform table that should help stop the back and forth movement. It is totally adjustable for uneven ground and will use sand bags to dampen the back and forth movement. A couple of plastic tent pegs will anchor it to the ground. Updates to the internal PSI Tube attaching system and a redraw of the tube itself to match the new diameter of the EMT launch barrel are now taking place... Mike |

You could also move to Fairbanks; the wind hardly ever blows there! LOL!

The next summer, I was wearing flannel shirts in the "sweltering" 80 degree temps in Fairbanks. God, we loved Alaska!

Final Flight of This Prototype Saturn V
Not much to see, most of the action was outside the frame of vision.
Rocket was a total loss, biggest part was the lower Stage 1, most of stage 2 floated down, 3rd stage to the CSm cone survived intack, however everything else was most confetti. Launch Pressure was around 90 lbs PSI. Mike |

ouch.
I remember seeing a silent movie once where the guy tried to detonate something and when it blows up you see the big wind, and all his clothes get ripped off and he's just standing their in his skivvies... this film reminded me of that. |

you mean it really is silent?
I just spent five minutes checking all my speaker connections trying to get the damn thing to work!! tough luck Mike....but the Rocket sure looked darn good before you "screwed the pooch" so to speak.

Hi dave,
yes, my camera dosen't do sound, when I tried to add a sound track, it wouldn't load. When uploading youtube says it needs to convert the video to something they can show. Looking for a better camera in my price range, but haven't found one yet. This one is old 1997 technology. It was the very first digital SLR. Movie capability is only 340 x 280 with no sound! It has issues trying to focus once the rocket is flying. BTW-Got someone who is interested in testing a beta build! Soon there might be better videos! I've already got the next one printed and ready to cut/paste. There was an echo when it blew! Mike |
