36" Bearhawk Rubber Band Wing Spar-Wings

1695 Right Wing Spar Note: Tall mark lines up with fuselage!

1699 Left Wing Spar-Note: Tall mark lines up with fuselage. Excellent.

1705 Wing Tip Ribs with gussets. With the cardstock this is all the ribs you need, actually the spar by itself works just as well.

1707 Sliding on the Wing Skin. The Skin has been glued along the trailing edge only. Leaving the wingtip open.

1711 Wing Tabs inserted for dry fit

1723 Gluing the Right Wing. It fit really well, was able to glue the whole wing with one application. Just do a fillet glue along the junction where the fuselage and wing meets.

1724 Gluing wing-Note perfect box to let it sit in.

1727 Left Wing Gluing: On this one I had to glue the rear trailing edge first as shown. Very little glue to lock in place. When trying to glue the front kept popping out of the tabs when the rear was put into place. The answer is simple, Just lock the trailing edge where it belongs. Once setup, you can glue the front where it belongs. Let set. Now glue the rest in the middle.

1745 Closeup-Note cut slit for Wing Spar on lower fuselage above main gear leg

1756 Reach inside the wing skin to glue both Top & Bottom on the Wing Tip Ribs. Only glue a small part = ½” long line on each side of the spar connection point.

1757 Tail Feathers glued into Position.

1761 Wing Tip Warping –Front Engine cowl has a couple of errors that re-drawing will fix.

1765 Ready for Weight & Balance
Bearhawk-pict1765.jpg

1767 Weight & Balance-Tail Heavy but it isn’t sitting on the floor, good indicator that not much weight will be needed. On the bottom of the wing tips there is a small CG symbol where to balance at. Scrap base wood, 5/16” diameter wood dowel and pencil top erasers work great for this step. Used a drill press to drill the 5/16” holes to ensure they were vertical.

1770- 1oz of stick on tire weight balances. After I fix the front cowling (redraw) I will do the final weight and balance.
