Ejection Seat

Ok I have been working on ejection seats for quite some time. But never really had a good reason to complete the task. Well here is an Ejection seat for the Bristol. A little of this and a little of that , it is not accurate as I have not got a good reference source to the actual seat. So this is Artistic license to make something that pleases the eye and looks good. I will strive to make an accurate seat when I aquire the proper reference material. I am going to include this seat model when I release this section model to you guys, but I have to make sure it fits overall first. And I am working on that.
Here goes

This will give you a sense for the scale in this shot

Cutting out the laminations

Main seat done and ready for some small stuff

Next comes the saftey tags

Ejection seat continued

Saftey Tags

Hood on canopy

Pull ring between legs on seat front

Scale shot for size

And here is the seat sitting on a copy of the instructioin sheets, which I am editing for content. I discovered 3 small errors as I was building this and 1 missing part.

Ejection Seat

Well Woppy73 was kind enough to share his references to the Bristol 188 seat and I am now going to make some changes to more accurately reflect this. The data for this plane is sparse so it is hard doing the research. Thanks for the help Wolfgang.

Really small and detailed !
And you have a good printer too ! Mine (Canon M550) will not be able to print the details (text for exemple) !

Well Pat I will tell you the secret to that problem. I printed this with an Epson 1100 not an expensive printer. You need to print on Photo Paper
I used 230 g/m 61 Lb - 11 mil (Staples Photo Supreme double sided matte paper)
I used the best photo print settings in the driver and I overrode the color default settings and asked for Vivid Print colors.
Now that will give you the details but with additional cost in paper and ink. But the vector lines really pop.
If you choose to do this on card or cover, the ink runs and ruins the small details.

Pilot for Ejection Seat

Well that seat just looked too empty so I whipped up a pilot for it last night. I am working on a more accurate seat, but you will notice that I have finihsed the instrument panel

Never heard of this bird before but neat looker. That ejection seat is an awesome piece of modeling work in its own right.

Thank you Whulsey, I am working out some details on a more accurate seat, the pilot included to add some more realism...
