It would be a shame not to do something so simple as cutting two strips of card, especially that it would later bother me every time I look at the model...

LOL - -It's not nice to pass off a Halinski model as MM, Michael! You are doing a beautiful job - I wish I could make a MM look that good!

You surely exagerating (but I like you even more for that :D)
I caught myself good few times looking at Halinski's P.11c, both on his page and on Polish forums.
His model is breathtaking but I don't like this plane as much as his Japanese designs

Control surfaces, landing skid are installed and both fuselage halves connected.
I'm having trouble with two-former method as it seems that the skin segments do not allign ideally. Probably it would be better to ditch one of them and convert the model to joining strip assembly but early on I decided not to interfere with the design.

Main undercariage legs are done. Instruction now calls to build the wheels but I will leave them untill the end and start on the wings instead
