MMMC Aircraft Shinden Redo

Hmmm, it seems that the MM extensions haven't resulted in an avalanche of MM building.:(
So. With less than a month to go and a very full schedule these days, I've decided to shoot for another entry.
Ever since doing the Shinden earlier in this same contest (remember way back then?), I've wondered what this cool looking plane would look like in a different livery. I'm just learning a couple of arty/Photoshoppy programs, so my recolor leaves a tremendous amount to be desired. But hey, it's all about having fun, as far as I'm concerned.
So this one is a fantasy. My premise is a what if; what if plans for the Shinden made their way to Germany and the Luftwaffe decided to build a rapid prototype for testing? I'm saying they did and had some sort of secret plan that would require this plane to wear a desert camo scheme. No, it doesn't make any sense to me, either, but that's where I'm going with this one;

The camo isn't based on anything and the markings are incomplete and simple.

I'll have to fake up another cockpit, as the kit has none.
The name in Japanese means something like "magnificent lightning". I'm open to suggestions for what the Luftwaffe might call theirs?
Hope I have the time to get this one done!
Chris

Your repaint looks very sharp!
Personally I would preffer one of the IJNAF'46 color schemes - maybe something like that:

Maybe with a little more practice! I don't think I'm proficient enough for that one, Michael!
I looked at that one, but this one really stood out;

Then, of course, there's the racing scheme!

Interesting excursion into an alternate universe, Chris. I'm thinking Shinden carried aboard Captain Nemo's aircraft-carrying submarine.

Hmmmm... a steam Shinden?! Now that might be worth a try!
The North Africa version is coming together;

So much for the easy parts. Scratch building the cockpit, six bladed prop, etc are the real work on this one!

Deadlines being what they are and this contest finishing up tomorrow night, I thought I'd give it a last minute, last ditch, Herculean effort to get this one done.

My bad back is telling me to call it quits for today, but hopefully I'll be in good enough shape to finish up in the morning... or not.
